Shooting on Driving Park Avenue kills 2, injuries 2
The Rochester Police Department has confirmed that a total of 4 people were shot, 2 of them dead in a shooting overnight on Driving Park Avenue.
According to the Rochester Police Department on Sunday morning around 2:30am the Rochester Police Department responded to 300 Driving Park Avenue for a report of people shot. When officers arrived on scene, they found about 100 people fleeing the scene. Once the crowd dispersed, officers found 3 people had been shot. One of the victims, a male in his 30’s was pronounced dead on scene.
A second victim, a male in his 20’s was taken by AMR to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The third victim, a male in his 30’s was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital by AMR, where he is listed in critical condition.
As officers were investigating the shooting, a fourth victim, a female in her 20’s arrived at Rochester General Hospital via private vehicle. The female is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The Rochester Police Department advised that there are no witnesses coming forward at this time. The shooting is still under investigation by the Rochester Police Department.
The Rochester Police Department advised that the gathering was a party that was taking place in a building on Driving Park Avenue. There was a group of people hanging out in the alleyway behind the building, when someone approached the group in the alley and began shooting.
The shooting comes one year to the day that the Rochester community dealt with a mass shooting on Pennsylvania Avenue, where 14 people were shot and 2 died during a backyard party.
The Rochester Police Department is asking anyone with information to call 911.
