Rochester firefighters responds to multiple fires including a 3-alarm building fire

On Tuesday night around 9:30pm the Rochester Fire Department responded to a multi-business building located on Lincoln Avenue and Copley Street for a report of a fire. When firefighters arrived on scene, they noticed smoke and flames coming from the building.

Immediately upon seeing the smoke and flames, the Rochester Fire Department upgraded the fire to a 3-alarm fire calling for additional firefighters to respond to the scene.

The fire was contained to one area of the building and firefighters were able to extinguish the fire within an hour. Firefighters were in the process of clearing the smoke from the building, which they believe will be a couple hours.

Rochester Fire Department Lieutenant Jeffrey Simpson stated the crews had a hard time locating where the fire was inside the building. But once the fire was located, it was quickly put out. Lt. Simpson stated that the additional units were called to help fight the fire due to the size of the building.

The Rochester Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
