One person injured in high rise fire

On Wednesday night around 11:00pm the Rochester Fire Department respond to an apartment building located at the corner of University Avenue and Goodman Street in the city of Rochester for a report of a fire. When firefighters arrived on scene, they noticed smoke and flames coming from a 9th floor apartment.

As firefighters battled the fire, firefighters also checked the residence. Inside the residence, firefighters found one person unconscious. The individual was removed from the apartment by firefighters and turned over to AMR.

The unconscious individual found in the apartment was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital, where their condition is unknown.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
