Multiple people rescued from building fire on Monroe Avenue


On Wednesday night around 11:00pm the Rochester Fire Department responded to an apartment building located at Monroe Avenue and Meigs Street for a report of a fire.  When firefighters arrived on scene, they found smoke and flames coming from the 4-story masonry apartment building.  Residents of the apartment building were exiting the building.

 

As firefighters were extinguishing the fire, they were advised of a resident needing help.  Firefighters did get one resident out unharmed.

The Rochester Fire Department advised that the fire appears to have started in a third-floor apartment. 

 

One person was treated for smoke inhalation.

 

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
