March to end gun violence on North Clinton

On Wednesday night, United Hope with Healing of Monroe County, the Rochester Police Department, local government officials, and community members came together to stop the gun violence in the area of North Clinton Avenue. 


The Rochester Police Department has confirmed that this year alone, there has been 12 shootings on North Clinton Avenue. The most recent was on August 5 when five people were shot with two of those individuals dying from their injuries. 


Over the last couple of years North Clinton Avenue has seen the most shootings than any other areas of the city. 


With the turn out from the community it is clear they area coming together to end the gun violence. The community wants their neighborhood back. 


The Rochester Police Department stated that the number of people shot this year is down 28% compared to last year. They have also stated that they have removed over 500 illegal handguns off the streets of Rochester this year. 


Anyone with information on the shooting from Aug. 5 is asked to call 911.
