Kids smash police cars on Reynolds Street

Just after 8:00pm on July 16 Rochester Police responded to School #2 for a 911 call of two males at the school. As the officers arrived at the school, officers encountered a group of youths near the intersection of Reynolds Street and Champlain Street.
As officer began to interact with the group, one of the males ran up to two marked police cars and began kicking them. The officers attempted to stop the male from kicking the vehicles when the male ran. Officers chased the male and took him into custody.

As officers were chasing the male, another group of teens began jumping on and damaging the marked police cars. Additional officers responded to the scene and two other teens were taken into custody. Both Rochester Police cars sustained damage and needed to be towed.
The three teens arrested are 11-years-old, 14-years-old, and 16-years-old. The 11-year-old received an expedited appearance ticket, while the other two teens were taken to the Monroe County Children’s Center.
