Deadly memorial day weekend leaves multiple dead others wounded in Rochester

On May 28 at 5:26pm the Rochester Police Department responded to the 300 block of Thurston Road for a ShotSpotter activation.  As officers were responding to the scene, numerous 911 calls came in for a report of 2 people shot.  When officers arrived on scene, they found 2 victims who had been shot.  The victims, a 30-year-old male and the second victim, a 32-year-old male, were both transported via ambulance to Strong Hospital where they are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

On May 29 just before 2:00am the Rochester Police Department responded to Flower City Station bar located at East Avenue and Broadway Street for a report of a person shot.  When officers arrived on scene, they found a 42-year-old male who had at least one gunshot wound to his upper body.  CPR was initiated by officers and bystanders, but all efforts to revive the male failed.  He was pronounced dead on scene.

While officers were investigating the shooting on East Avenue, a second gunshot victim was dropped off by private vehicle at Rochester General Hospital.  The victim was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.  The second male victim was a security guard who was working at the bar.

Initial information obtained indicates that a fight had started at the bar.  The security guard attempted to break up the fight at which time a male suspect pulled a gun and began shooting.

While officers were working the shooting on East Avenue, Rochester Police Department received a 911 call around 3:10am that there was a large group gathering in vehicles and on foot in the parking lot of Anthony Jordan Health Center.  As the two groups were in the parking lot, an incident occurred and both groups began shooting at each other.

Officers arrived on scene, and they found evidence of a shooting but no victims.  While investigating the incident, a teenage female was dropped off in a private vehicle at Rochester General Hospital.  The female was pronounced dead shortly after her arrival at the hospital.

The Rochester Police Department advised that the teenage female was sitting in a vehicle when she was shot.  The victim does not appear to be involved in the initial altercation but was caught in the crossfire.

The Rochester Police Department is investigating all the shootings.  No suspects are in custody.  Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or the Major Crimes Unit at 585-428-7157.
