Actor Michael Williams found dead in NYC apartment

Michael Williams, who was best known for his role as Omar on “The Wire” was found dead inside his New York City apartment.

Sources with the NYPD announced today that a family member had not heard from Williams in a couple days and went to check on him. As the family members went to Williams' apartment, they found Williams inside his apartment deceased.

NYPD sources state that Williams was found in the living room of his Brooklyn apartment. Drugs and drug paraphrenia were found on a table nearby.

Williams' body was removed from the apartment by the New York City Office of Medical Examiner. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday morning.

William’s played Omar on “The Wire”, which made him a household name. Williams also had roles in “Broadway Empire”, “The Night Of”, “Lovecraft Country”, “12 years a Slave”, and “Assassin’s Creed”.
