4 killed and 1 shot in less then 24 hours in Rochester streets


Violent day in Rochester leaves 5 shot with 3 dead

The violence in Rochester started at 3:00am this morning, when Rochester Police Department responded to 35 Chestnut Street for being fired into an apartment. When officers arrived on scene, they were concerned that there might have been an active shooter. Officers began to clear the 8-floor building. As the officers were checking the building, they found one victim in the 2nd floor stairwell along with a 2nd victim on the 2nd floor hallway.

Both victims suffered at least one gunshot wound. Both victims were also pronounced dead on scene.

The suspect had fled the building prior to officers arriving on scene.

One of the victims was in his late teens and the second victim was in his 20’s.

Around 1:15pm today, officers responded to the area of 100 Saint Paul Street for a report of a person shot. When officers arrived on scene, they found a male who was shot at least once in his upper body.

The male was transported to a local hospital where he is being treated. His condition is unknown.

At 4:06pm the Rochester Police Department was dispatched to Belknap Street for a report of a person shot. When officers arrived on scene, they found a female who was shot at least once.

RPD has not confirmed that the female’s death is a homicide.

Detectives are still investigating the incident.

On Thursday evening at 7:32pm, the Rochester Police Department responded to the 800 block of Fernwood Park for a report of a male who had been shot. When officers arrived on scene, they did locate evidence of a shooting, but no victims.

As officers were on scene, they were advised that the male victim had been driven to Rochester General Hospital by private vehicle.

The male is in his 20’s and was shot at least once in his upper body.

The victim’s injuries are life-threatening.

The Rochester Police Department has confirmed that no suspects are in custody for any of the shootings.
